Cellulitus Stinks

Today was the first day since last Thursday that the swelling in John's arm has gone down. It all started last week this time when he came home from playing a hockey game and had fallen on his elbow, causing a wound. Some evil bacteria got into the wound and so our 'adventure' began.
He saw our family doctor who diagnosed him with Bricitus. But, a day after seeing him, John's arm from his elbow down to his wrist, became red, hot and hardened. But even more so, stiff and sometimes very painful.
So, we went to Emerg on Saturday, were in and out after two and a half hours once he got IV antibiotics. After that, we had to go back for two more IV treatments. Sunday was the worst with a 4 hour wait to get into his treatment (and that was after talking the triage nurses into giving him the IV in a chair somewhere in the waiting area)
John went back yesterday and finally today to the day IV clinic. He has two more IV treatments to go.
We got home the first day after being at the hospital and found out that his mother has also been diagnosed with Cervical Cancer.
It has been a dark few days. I was surprised at how much I felt affected by two days spent in an un-inspiring hospital. My heart goes out even more to the people who stay at the hospital.

Trusting a few more days in the real world with our regular schedule, some time at the gym and decent bedtimes will get things back to normal.
