There's alot of things I want to spend money on. I'm no different than anyone else. If I have some extra cash (ha, what's that?), I want to buy new jeans, new clothes for the kids or go our for dinner, rather than cooking. It's all really tempting. And now that it's Christmas, it's worse.
The grocery store is playing Christmas music, the decorations where up the day after Halloween for heavens sake, and the "buy me, look at me, I'm so cool" commercials are starting, hoping to borough a tunnel into my ever consuming nature.
This is madness, there must be a way out!
Coincidently, my sister Crystal had suggested our family participate in Advent Conspiracy, a program that our church, Kingsvalley Wesleyan signed up to participate in, designed to provide clean drinking water to those who have no access.
A few eye-opening points:
450 BILLION dollars spent on Christmas each year
10 BILLION dollars drill for clean water wells
$10 for one child to have access to clean water for LIFE! yes, that's LIFE!

As we continue on over the next six weeks, between this blog and my article in KV Style, I will be journaling what it's like NOT spending money over the Christmas season. Let's just say this, if Christmas were my obesiety, than I'll be going on a radical diet and logging the pains to attain my goal.

I am excited if you are willing to ride this journey with me, either by simply reading what I write, or by being inspired to join in on the sacrifice to better someone else's life.
